A calculating sort of woolyne, Basalt likes to keep his emotions completely separate from his work, but he's always working. His ethics are defined by the one who's in charge of him and not really by any internal moral compass.

History: Raised in an academic family, Basalt's affinity for tactics and strategy led his parents to urge him to join the navy where this would be useful. However, his cold calculations led him to find that crime does, in fact, pay. So, when Raziel's ship drifted into a nearby harbor, Basalt sought him out and asked to join. Finding the young lad well-versed in navigation and mathematics, Raz happily took him on.

Now he's Raz's first mate and navigator and a fierce fighter.
